The book will begin with an extensive Introduction outlining crucial philosophical and religious themes, and contextualizes the texts with respect to their relative status in Indian orthodoxy through time. Each section of the translations is prefaced by a short, explanatory Introduction to the Selections, and the translations themselves are accompanied by Notes explaining difficult concepts and terms. A Vocabulary Index is included so that readers can follow the evolution of key terms through the selections. An annotated Bibliography provides a comprehensive overview of scholarship on yoga, and ideas for further study.
